Frequently Asked Questions

  • WHAT IS COUNSELLING, AND HOW CAN IT HELP ME?
Counselling is a confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and challenges with the support of a trained professional. It can help you gain clarity, develop coping strategies, and work through difficult experiences in a safe and non-judgmental environment.
  • WHAT KIND OF COUNSELLING DO YOU OFFER?
I provide one-to-one counselling, working integrativelly, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches to suit your needs. I am a BACP-registered counsellor, which means that my approach is grounded in the BACP Ethical Framework, ensuring that our work together is professional, ethical, and client-centred.
  • IS COUNSELLING CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes, confidentiality is a fundamental part of counselling. Everything we discuss will remain strictly confidential, with a few legal and ethical exceptions: If there is a serious risk of harm to yourself or others. If there are serious concerns about the safety of a child or vulnerable adult. If you disclose involvement in certain severe illegal activities (e.g., terrorism, drug trafficking, money laundering).

  • DO YOU TAKE NOTES, AND HOW ARE THEY STORED?

  • HOW LONG DOES EACH SESSION LAST?
    Each session lasts 50 minutes.
  • HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO ATTEND A SESSION?
Counselling should be considered a weekly commitment. Regular weekly sessions help build momentum, allowing for deeper exploration and progress. Of course, from time to time weekly won't be possible, because of holiday illness, etc. But the aim should be to have regular session, ideally on a weekly basis where possible.
  • CAN I HAVE SESSIONS EVERY OTHER WEEK?
Initially, weekly sessions are strongly encouraged to ensure meaningful progress. If we later decide that every other week is appropriate, we can review this together. There are limited number of time slots for people who have their sessions every 2 weeks instead of weekly.
  • WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED TO CANCEL OR RESCHEDULE?
If you need to cancel, you'll have to provide at least 24 hours' notice. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will require full payment of the session fee.
  • HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?
This varies from person to person. Counselling is an open-ended process, meaning we will review progress together and decide on the right time to end. Clients are encouraged to attend a minimum of six sessions to maximise the benefits of therapy and support meaningful progress.
